QIS Member Wins Red Ribbon!!

Misty Mountain Quilt Show

Blairsville, GA

We are so proud of our own Claudia Gray! She worked a long time to produce this beautiful quilt made from a One Block Wonder Pattern. Claudia named this Black Beauty.
Black Beauty was quilted on a long arm machine  by one of our members Jerita Hunt.
You can see why she won a ribbon on this gorgeous quilt! We are so proud of this award!!

Starting a New Year for Quilters in Stitches!

Welcome to our Quilters in Stitches Blog. We have chosen this method of making our presence known in the quilting community. We are starting a new year (Oct. 1, 2015) with a whole new set of officers and committee chairmen (or chair ladies)! This blog is intended for all who love to QUILT and who want to be connected with those who share your passion for this art form. Each month we  publish a great newsletter for our members, but if you are interested in seeing more of what we do, email us and request a copy. We'd be happy to send it you.
Our guild is a small group, but that just means you get to know everyone quicker. We do projects involving all active members such as Yellow Ribbon quilts for our servicemen, annual raffle quilt, and other donation quilts. We have wonderful guest speakers at most of our meetings, as well as offering great classes from some of the best quilt teachers in our area. We promise to put a smile on your face and some new ideas in your head when you see our monthly parade of Show and Tell quilts! See our photos on this Blog. We'll be adding to them each month, so be sure and stop by for some inspiration!! Again, welcome all that love to quilt and sew.
PS Beginners are welcomed and encouraged! If you have a fabric addiction, you need our company!!
We meet on the third Monday of each month.
Fellowship starts at 6:30 PM, meeting at 7 PM.

Happy New Years 2012!!

We have had a wonderful 2011 year at Quilters in Stitches this past year with wonderful speakers and 2012 will certainly have more to come for our members. Our Christmas party was a great success in December and there where people we hadn't seen in a while and we were glad to see everyone come together for this festive occassion. The meeting called to order, items were reviewed on the agenda, a blessing and thanks for our pot luck celebration was done and then the festivities began.

Guild Members enjoying the wonderful dinner.

Show and Tell begins! Lovely, lovely quilts ladies.

Trunk Show Marti Michell

Wow, if you weren't there, you certainly missed some spectacular quilts!! It was not Marti's first trip to our guild, but it was my first time to meet her. She unloaded her trunk after I navigated her to our location, via cell phone. She has acrylic tools to save time on almost any kind of rotary cutting. The guild gals crowded around her after the presentation, trying to decide which of her rulers/tools they were going to get. Most of them could not decide and just bought several! I can't imagine anyone there was bored!!
Our ladies learn a lot from these programs! If you're not a member, you need to come and visit...then you'll want to join us!!

Invisible Applique Class Offered

Well I've gotten the green light for this wonderful class to be held on November 6, 2010 from 10 - 2:30 pm. We are happy to have Helena Krapp on hand to teach us this great technique. The project will be a beautiful Christmas Table Runner. Helena's applique work looks like it is done by hand, but it is actually done on the sewing machine!! What a fun process to add to your skills! If you belong to our guild, be sure and send your confirmation email to save a spot. If you don't belong to our guild, you are welcome to join us. The cost will be $25 for members and $28 for non-members. The cost includes lunch. We have a list of supplies and fabrics needed. The class will be held at Highlands Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.  We will send that to you if you want to attend this novel class!!
